Operations Manager Jobs at Carbon Tanzania August 2022
Carbon Tanzania occupies a unique position in the conservation world in East Africa. A social enterprise at heart, we seek to reframe the way people view and utilise natural landscapes. Our pioneering business approach ensures that value is realised through a network of stakeholders, from the forest communities themselves through to the companies and individuals providing the finance
We empower communities and local governments to realise value from the sustainable management of their natural resource.
Our targeted projects generate verified forest carbon offsets which are sold on the voluntary market.
Revenue is paid directly to the communities for development and livelihood needs. These communities have autonomy over how the revenue is spent.
Most communities spend revenue on needs such as accessing health services and paying school fees or further education needs
Because of this system the impacts of our work automatically meet many key SDGs.
We bring extensive expertise to large landscape conservation challenges. Our business approach to conservation demands that people receive revenue directly from the sustainable management of their natural resources.
Our most successful strategy to date – developing large scale REDD projects in locally managed forest areas – can be a powerful conservation tool in specific circumstances. As well as developing our own projects, we are involved in advising other organisations on how best to develop and implement this results-based approach.
