Programme Description

The program will prepare students to contribute to Tanzania’s development through the application of modern technologies and data-driven business strategies. The programme prepares students to lead digital transformations in various sectors, contributing to the sustainable growth of Tanzania's economy. The programme seeks to foster innovation that aligns with sustainable practices, encouraging the use of technology for long-term economic and environmental benefits. This programme also addresses the shortage of business analysts and information system managers in both private and public sectors. It is designed to equip 205 students with practical skills in business intelligence, big data management, and predictive analytics, which are essential for supporting decision-making in organizations Programme Learning Outcomes The programme is designed to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical application through a balanced approach to learning. The programme emphasizes real-world business problems, data-driven decision-making, and systems thinking to develop professionals who are both critical thinkers and competent doers. The use of case studies, projects, and industry- based learning experiences ensures that students can apply theoretical knowledge to complex problems in business analytics and information systems. Graduates of this Programme are expected to: • Comprehend and apply theories, concepts, and principles of information technology and business analytics to solve business problems and improve organizational decision- making. • Understand and apply theoretical knowledge to optimize data management, systems integration, and the use of information technologies to enhance business operations and decision-making processes. • Apply principles of ICT and business analytics to engage with various stakeholders in designing, implementing, and evaluating ICT systems for business improvement. • Develop and apply research skills to design a research proposal, conduct data-driven research, and write an independent dissertation in the fields of information technology and business analytics. • Analyze business processes and data using advanced business intelligence tools to provide insights and recommendations for policy and strategic decision-making. • Make use of sustainability concepts, using data-driven approaches to assess the environmental and social impacts of business strategies and technology solutions • Demonstrate an understanding of professional, ethical, legal, security, and social issues and responsibilities • Communicate the results of business analytics tasks through visual presentations and reports using data visualization tools, information systems, and relevant software such as SQL, Python, R, and business intelligence platforms. • Apply critical thinking and analytical skills to address real-life business challenges, optimize operations, and solve complex problems through the integration of information systems and data analytics techniques • Demonstrate willingness to learn and adapt to emerging trends in information systems • Demonstrate a commitment to ethical data handling and privacy protection in information system. • Demonstrate a positive attitude towards teamwork and collaborations • Show a sense of responsibility in maintaining information systems, security best practices, system management. The BSc IDIT programme prepares professionals to design and implement innovative digital learning environments that enhance access to quality and inclusive education (SDG4), particularly for diverse learners in remote and underserved areas. By integrating emerging technologies such as AI, VR, gamification, and adaptive learning, it enhances student engagement and learning outcomes, ensuring more effective and personalized educational experiences. Additionally, the programme promotes the adoption of digital technologies in education, training, and workforce development (SDG9) by supporting e-learning, blended learning, and mobile learning, while also encouraging research and innovation in instructional technology for both formal and informal education settings. Programme Learning Outcomes The BSc IDIT programme aligns with Tanzania's national development vision and plans by fostering digital transformation, innovation, and human capital development essential for achieving Tanzania Development Vision 2025 goals of a knowledge-based economy and high- quality education. By equipping graduates with expertise in instructional design, IT, and digital content development, the programme supports the National Digital Economy Strategic Framework (2024-2034) by strengthening e-learning, digital skills, and ICT-driven education solutions, accelerating digital inclusion and economic growth. Additionally, it contributes to the Five-Year National Development Plan (2021/22–2025/26) by promoting STEM education, workforce upskilling, and ICT adoption in education and training, enhancing national productivity, job creation, and technological innovation in line with Tanzania’s long-term socio- economic development goal. Graduate of this Programme will be able to: • To demonstrate in-depth understanding of instructional design theories and apply them effectively in digital learning environments. • To exhibit comprehensive knowledge of e-learning tools such as Learning Management Systems (LMS), multimedia content creation tools, and adaptive learning systems. • To understand of pedagogical frameworks such as UDL and Bloom’s Taxonomy for designing inclusive learning environments. • To develop instructional content for online, blended, and face-to-face learning environments. • To use ICT tools, including multimedia authoring tools, LMS, and collaboration platforms. • To conduct needs assessments and learner analysis to tailor instructional content. • Manage and lead e-learning projects, collaborating with technologists and subject matter experts. • To pursue continuous professional development, conduct research, and engage in self- directed learning to remain informed about emerging instructional technologies and 210 design trends for enhancing learning experiences. • To implement ethical principles in instructional design by promoting inclusivity, ensuring accessibility, and integrating technology responsibly to support diverse learners and educational needs. • To collaborate effectively with educators, technologists, and stakeholders to design, develop, and execute instructional solutions that address real-world educational challenges.
