On behalf of Tanzania Electrical Company (TANESCO) and National Housing
Corporation (NHC) Public Service Recruitment Secretariat (PSRS) invites dynamic and
suitable qualified Tanzanians to fill eight (8) vacant posts as mentioned hereunder.
1.0. TANZANIA ELECTRIC SUPPLY COMPANY LIMITED (TANESCO)
Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (TANESCO) is a Parastatal organization
established by Memorandum and Articles of Association incorporated on 26th November 1931 which established Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (the then Tanganyika Electric Supply Company Limited -TANESCO).
The Company generates purchases, transmits, distributes, and sells electricity to Tanzania Mainland and sells bulk power to the Zanzibar Electricity Corporation (ZECO), which in turn sells it to the public in islands of Unguja and Pemba.
TANESCO owns most of the electricity generating, transmitting, and distributing facilities in Tanzania Mainland with an estimated population of 50 million.
1.0.1 PERSONAL SECRETARY III – 5 POSTS
1.0.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. To provide secretarial and administrative support to another office as needed,
attend victors/customers upon arrival;
ii. To maintain calendar and the manager’s diary;
iii. To effective maintain filling systems and update the index to ensure proper
maintenance of records and easy retrieval of documents;
iv. To organize meetings and events in the respective office as directed by the manager;
v. To make travel arrangements for the manager and other staff in the department;
vi. To manage office equipment and machines, namely (typewriter, computer,
photocopier machines, and fax messages) to assure performance is maintained;
and
vii. To supervise dispatch and receive reports, parcels, and letters to ensure good
management of the office.
1.0.3 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Diploma in Secretarial Studies from a recognized institution with Form IV or VI secondary school academic certificates, typing speed 50wpm, office practice stage II, English stage II, and Shorthand /Hati Mkato 80/100.
1.0.4 SALARY SCALE: As per TANESCO scheme of Service.
2.0 NATIONAL HOUSING CORPORATION (NHC)
National Housing Corporation (NHC) is under the Ministry of Lands, Housing and
Settlements Development.
The Ministry is represented by the Board of Directors which is responsible for the corporate policies and strategies.
The day-to-day management of NHC’s business is overseen by the Director-General who is responsible to the Board of Directors.
Effective from July 1994, the Corporation’s portfolios have been divided into profit centers which are income generating and self-sustaining directorates, and cost centers that play a supportive role.
This role mandates the NHC to undertake an array of business.
2.0.1 ARTISAN II ELECTRICAL – 1 POST
2.0.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. To perform specified craft jobs under supervision;
ii. To participate in performing routine technical cleaning of the work
environment;
iii. To participate in proper storage of tools and equipment;
iv. To participate in operational repairs of machinery, facilities, buildings, and
infrastructure;
v. To participate in reporting maintenance problems to senior staff; and
vi. To perform any other related duties as may be assigned by the
Supervisor.
2.0.3 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Holder of Secondary Education Certificate with a Trade Test Grade I or NVA Level III
in Electrical or equivalent qualification.2.0.4 REMUNERATION: Salary Scale – NHC 2
2.0.5 ENGINEER II -CIVIL 1 POST
2.0.6 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
i. To execute civil and structural engineering works as per the program of works
and to the desired quality;
ii. To prepare a program of works for the NHC contractors;
iii. To ensure quality in the workmanship of construction works;
iv. To conduct tests on building materials and components;
v. To execute repairs and maintenance of buildings projects and equipment
but under the supervision of a Professional Engineer;
vi. To train interns and students on-site works;
vii. To participate in designing civil and structural works;
viii. To prepare engineering drawings and specifications;
ix. To prepare documents to be issued for information, permits, construction, and tenders;
x. To prepare a program of works for consultants;
xi. To ensure quality in the workmanship of construction works;
xii. To conduct tests on building materials and components;
xiii. To attend site inspections and site meetings;
xiv. To supervise repair and maintenance of buildings and equipment under
the guidance of a Consulting Engineer; and
xv. To perform any other related duties as may be assigned by the
Supervisor.
2.0.7 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Holder of Bachelor Degree or Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
Must be registered with Engineers Registration Board (ERB) as a graduate engineer.
2.0.8 REMUNERATION: Salary Scale – NHC 4
2.0.9 QUANTITY SURVEYOR II (BUILDING ECONOMICS) – 1 POST
2.0.10 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. To advise his/her seniors on all matters related to quantity surveying and
contractual aspects;
ii. To prepare bills of quantities;
iii. To provide required data for preparations of construction contract
documents and contract agreements;
iv. To prepare financial reports;
v. To participate in cost reconciliations for the projects with other
directorates;
vi. To participate in the evaluation of tenders;
vii. To prepare preliminary cost estimates on completion of sketch drawings;
viii. To ensure cost–control of construction projects;
ix. To take the full measurement and prepare of final accounts (as per contract
agreement) on completion of a project;
x. To prepare and compile tender bid documents;
xi. To prepare and manage projects such as cash flows and performance
indicators, and manage and evaluate variations;
xii. To prepare valuations and cost projections of the assignments to meet
requirements of work in progress;
xiii. To inspect the site for collection of information for monthly statements;
xiv. To prepare project financial reports that show areas with risk;
xv. To prepare project closeout report in collaborations with the project team;
and
xvi. To perform any other related duties that may be assigned by the
Supervisor.
2.0.11 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Holder of Bachelor Degree in any of the following: Quantity Survey, Building Economics, Construction Management, Building Surveyor equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Must be registered with AQRB as a Professional Quantity Surveyor.
2.0.12 REMUNERATION: Salary Scale – NHC 4GENERAL CONDITIONS
