Programme Description

The Bachelor of Arts in Translation and Interpretation (BATI) programme is designed to equip students with the linguistic, cultural, and technological competencies necessary for effective communication across languages. Recognizing the increasing demand for professional translators and interpreters in the globalized world, this programme emphasizes both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in translation and interpretation Programme Learning Outcomes This programme aligns with Tanzania’s vision of economic transformation by ensuring that language barriers do not hinder technological, social, political, and economic advancements. Graduates of the programme will play a key role in bridging communication gaps between 194 Kiswahili and other international languages, contributing to the country’s integration into the global economy. Graduate will be able to: • Apply principles of translation and interpretation in various settings • Solve communication problems within societies of different languages • Design translation and interpretation projects • Solve challenges of translation and interpretation • Adapt flexibility in real-life situation • Show confidence, ethics and self-reliance
