Programme Description

The programme aims to develop student teachers with ethics and practical skills of significant to make a difference in students in the dynamic world of work. It is designed to equip student teachers with necessary competencies needed to effectively integrate artistic creative endeavor. At the core of the BAED is the principle of self-reliance, encouraging student- teachers to develop independent teaching capacities and using assistive technologies. This underscores the transformative power of education, advocating for inclusive, participatory, and student-centered learning experiences. The programme is grounded in the perspective that education is a basic right and a vital attribute of personal development. It is, therefore, expected that the programme will cultivate critical thinking, effective communication skills, cultural preservation, and creativity between and among student teachers. This will, 78 subsequently, help student teachers to gain insights into educational policies, theories, and practices. The philosophical foundation of this programme aligns with educational initiatives that advocate for alternative methods that empower students as learners.

Learning Outcomes

  • Demonstrate theoretical understanding of innovative teaching strategies relevant to the specific academic subject;
  • Broaden theoretical understanding of concepts related to his/her academic subjects;
  • Develop an understanding of professional language that enhances understanding concepts and theories to improve learning outcomes.
  • Demonstrate ability in problem-solving, critical thinking collaboration and creative potentials in a diverse learning activity
  • Integrate ICT and assistive technologies into teaching and learning
  • Design and develop instructional materials which are in line with competence-based education
  • Conduct classroom action research and engage in reflective practice to continuously improve teaching and learning strategies;
  • Design and implement competency-based assessment methods that effectively measure practical skills and academic progress
  • Demonstrate ethical behaviours related to teaching profession.
  • Advocate for an inclusive environment that values learners’ diversity.
  • Demonstrate respect to the nation, profession, employer and students.
