The Cabinet Secretary for Education, Prof. George Magoha, on June 2, 2020 announced the conclusion of the placement of Government-sponsored students to universities and colleges for the 2020/2021 cycle.
Prof. Magoha, who addressed the media at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) in Nairobi, gave the highlights of the placement of the 2019 KCSE examination candidates and applicants from previous KCSE years to the higher learning institutions.
“Following the successful completion of the placement process, 122,831 candidates have secured placement to degree courses in universities while 88,724 got placed in TVET institutions.
“Of those placed in TVET, 53,726 will be admitted to Diploma; 29,112 to Craft Certificate and 5,886 to Artisan Certificate courses.”
Joining Instructions
Prof. Magoha asked universities and colleges to contact their respective students and give them joining instructions and fast-tract the start of their academic journey given that most universities have continued with online learning during this era of COVID-19 restrictions.

Speaking at the media briefing the Placement Board Chairman, Mr. Joe Ager, noted that the Placement Service had established policies, structures and quality assurance mechanisms to ensure that the placement processes are effective, efficient and above board.
