The Social Inclusion Programme of UNICEF Tanzania works to enhance national programmes affecting children and to contribute to the alleviation of poverty, vulnerability and socioeconomic inequities. This overall objective will be achieved through 4 strategic pillars:
(i) Strengthening national statistical systems, harnessed on strong national capacity and data analysis for effective policy advocacy;
(ii) Strengthening national public financial management systems to yield a healthier balance between social and economic investments, as well as heightened transparency and accountability;
(iii) National social protection system focused on the provision of inclusive, child-sensitive, gender transformative, and shock responsive services; and
(iv) promote Child-Focused Policy Research & Evaluation to support child- and equity-focused, data driven and evidence-based decision-making.
The Tanzania UNICEF Country Office (TCO) is looking for a full-time intern for three months. The position is in the Social Policy, Research and Evaluation team based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The intern will support ongoing efforts under outputs (i) and (iii). Among other things, he/she will support with the synthesis of rigorous technical analysis and available data into accessible, digestible outputs to inform policy advocacy.

How can you make a difference?
- the preparation of factsheets, briefs and infographics regarding the situation of adolescents in Tanzania mainland and Zanzibar;
- Data analysis
- Development of policy notes aimed at informing high level policy engagement across social sectors.
- Be enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate or Ph.D. degree programme or have graduated within the past two years.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old .
- Be proficient in at least one of UNICEF’s working languages: English, French or Spanish. Fluency in the working language of the office you are applying to is required. Knowledge of Swahili is desirable.
- Have excellent academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records.
- For this specific assignment, candidates with a Bachelor in Statistics will be preferred due to the data work involved.
