Remember, you never get a second chance to make a good first impression. However, good preparation takes the pain out of the process. The best way to ace your next interview is to make sure you’re prepared. Here are some tips for fresh graduates aspiring to join the community of working professionals:
1. Preparation: Preparation is essential and greatly enhances your chances of performing well, So:
  • know your CV. Spend time reviewing your resume and experience and its relevance to the position.
  • Identify the specific examples in your background that are directly relevant to the position description and demonstrate your ability to do the job.
  • know your potential employer
  • understand commonly used interview styles and common interview questions
2. Detail Understanding about the company:Conduct additional research on the organization by reading annual reports and researching on the internet. ; Go through the history and the present position of the company. It will help you to understand them and make you more confident.
3. Reach on time: ;Try to reach the interview place 15 minutes in advance so that you can relax and get yourself ready to face the interview. Make sure you know exactly where you’re going and always be on time. It will also depict your punctuality.
4. Carry all required documents in a folder: ;Make sure that you carry 2-3 copies of your resume, certificates (if asked), a notepad and a pen in a well-organized folder.
5. Understanding Your Position: Be prepared to communicate why this role appeals to you. It can help the hiring manager clarify and expand upon the resume. The interviewer really wants to discover your prior interest in the position for which you are applying. Because many candidates apply to multiple jobs simultaneously.
6. Improve your communication skill: ;Your communication skills play a significant role while you are interviewed for a job post. Improve your communication skill. If you are good at communication, half of your job is done. Back up your good communication skills with impressive ideas especially when asked about your career goals. Boost your communication skills with a suitable body language. The way you smile, talk, argue and put forward your views are integral to your communication skills.
7. Dress Neatly and Professionally: ;Your dressing sense is the mirror of your personality. It defines the society you belong to. Dress like you are a part of them. Always wear a formal suit. Black trousers and a white shirt would be the best combination. Avoid wearing colorful shirts and trousers. Look like a professional.
8. Switch off your phone: ;Your interview is about you and the job, not about who is texting you. Most people turn their cell phones on vibrate to avoid appearing unprofessional. Vibrate, however, is also bad. It may come as a surprise, but interviewers are not actually hard of hearing. They can hear the buzz, buzz, buzz sound coming from your pocket every time you get a phone call or text message. Your phone needs to be off completely. The disturbance is not acceptable in any form and the job is more important than your one call or a message, so turn off your phone before entering.
9. Pay Attention: ;Do you focus your mind on what you are doing? Do you align your thoughts with your actions, or are they two separate activities? Focusing your mind and thoughts on your actions improves your confidence, do fewer mistakes, and perform everything appropriate and better. Biting your nails, tapping the table with your pen, sipping water, again and again, touching your forehead or nose, biting your lips demonstrates nervousness. Similarly chewing the gum during an interview demonstrates lack of courtesy. Keep away from doing any of these.
10. Be loud enough and clear: ;Make sure that the interviewer can hear you clearly. Avoid talking too loudly or in a very low volume. Murmuring under your breath is often frustrating for the interviewer.
11. ;Say “I don’t know” : ;While you must make intelligent guesses, don’t fake around by trying to offer wrong answers to the questions you don’t know at all. It is absolutely OK if you don’t know certain things.
