It is situated along the shores of Lake Victoria in Mwanza City. It has 950 beds and over 1300 employees. It is a referral centre for tertiary specialist care for eight regions, namely; – Mwanza, Geita, Simiyu, Mara, Kagera, Shinyanga, Tabora and Kigoma. It serves a catchment’s population of over 14 million people.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i.To conduct visual analysis;
ii.To prescribe optical prescriptions;
iii.To maintain optical aids, Proper handling, care and maintenance.
iv.To keep and maintain patients statistics.
v.To perform any other related duties as may be assigned by his Supervisor.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Holder of Bachelor of Science Degree in Clinical Optometry or any related field from a recognized institution.
REMUNERATION SALARY SCALE: PMGSS 5
