New Various Jobs Opportunities at WiLDAF Tanzania2024, The Women’s Legal Aid Centre (WLAC) is a leading non-profit organization that promotes and protects women’s rights in Tanzania. Commonly known by its Swahili acronym “WiLDAF Tanzania”, WLAC has pioneered groundbreaking legal advocacy, empowerment programs, and policy reform initiatives since 1985. WiLDAF Tanzania works tirelessly to eliminate all forms of discrimination and gender-based violence against women through an integrated approach of legal aid services, public education, and grassroots community mobilization.
One of WiLDAF Tanzania’s most impactful programs is the Paralegal Training Program. Through this initiative, over 500 community members have been equipped with critical legal knowledge to support women’s rights at the local level. WiLDAF Tanzania’s network of trained paralegals provide free legal advice, counseling, and court representation to vulnerable groups across Tanzania. They play a pivotal role in advancing access to justice in remote, underserved areas. WiLDAF Tanzania also spearheads national campaigns against issues such as child marriage, sexual abuse, and property grabbing – advocating for progressive legislation to protect Tanzanian women and girls.
By hosting workshops, seminars, and an annual women’s rights conference, WiLDAF Tanzania raises awareness of women’s legal entitlements. Their strategic litigation efforts have led to landmark court decisions strengthening protections from gender-based violence. WiLDAF Tanzania continues to pioneer innovative solutions through partnerships with universities, law firms, and international organizations. About WiLDAF:
Women in Law and Development in Africa Women in Law and Development in Africa (WiLDAF), is a pan African women’s rights network which is dedicated to promoting and strengthening strategies that link law and development to increase women’s participation and influence at community, national, region and international levels.
It was founded in February, 1990 in Harare Zimbabwe – following the NGO forum held within the context of the UN Decade for women- and, whose theme was “Women rights and Development: Network for Empowerment in Africa”. Since then, the organization has established chapters in 26 African countries, including Tanzania, constituting over 350 organizations and 3,000 inpiduals who share these objectives. WiLDAF has 20 years of experience and excellent track record to advance women’s rights and their status in Tanzania. This is because gender equality is not only a fundamental right, but also a necessary foundation for peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world.
