Project Overview and Role:

Under the USAID-sponsored Data for Impact (D4I) project, Palladium is executing a site level monitoring and health data collection activity in Tanzania. The overall goal of the activity is to improve clinical care, patient safety and health care operations. This will be accomplished by periodic quality assessments (QA) of USAID supported health sites with recommendations for actions to improve quality (QI).  Palladium seeks to hire 6 Field Monitors to assist with site monitoring visits and completion of QA/QI site monitoring forms. The Field Monitors may carry out their work in tandem with USAID Tanzania staff.

 Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with capacity assessments in QA/QI of local IPs
  • Make the necessary contacts with relevant stakeholders including the IP, the Region and the Regional and District Medical Officers, and health sites prior to any site visits
  • Carry out site visits for data collection and program monitoring utilizing PEPFAR and HIV and MCH & FP, TB, and malaria intensive site monitoring QA/QI tools.
  • Conduct data verification on a sample of the priority indicators during the site visits
  • Mentor and conduct on-the-job training in QA/QI with local IP staff as requested
  • Communicate to sites and relevant IPs on the results of the QA/QI monitoring especially the recommendations for action
  • Turn in electronically completed forms to the D4I Activity Director within two days following the facility visit.
  • Review the site monitoring recommendation form with the D4I Activity Director to make sure all information is well documented.
  • Schedule a follow-up phone call or site visit depending on the overall performance.
  • Prepare monthly summary findings and recommendations two weeks after site monitoring visits.
  • Report to the D4I Activity Director in Dar es Salaam.

    Required Qualifications:

  • Experience with the PEPFAR tools for QA/QI monitoring, especially SIMS
  • Experience in using QA/QI site monitoring tools and their implementation
  • Familiarity with routine health data reporting in Tanzania at the site level
  • Experience training field officers in data collection utilizing the USAID and project developed site monitoring tools
  • Available to travel locally in Tanzania as required at least 70% of the time
  • Have a basic understanding of quality improvement issues relating to health services and monitoring skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
