**Introduction:**
Asasi ya Uwezeshaji Tanzania, in collaboration with USAID Heshimu Bahari (Respect the Ocean), is embarking on a five-year project aimed at enhancing the ecological resilience and productivity of high marine biodiversity areas in Tanzania. This initiative will involve partnering with government agencies, communities, the private sector, and civil society to establish a conducive environment and a scientifically-driven framework for sustainable marine protected areas and wild-caught fishery co-management. Asuta has been tasked with implementing the project in the Dar es Salaam and Mtwara seascapes. We are currently seeking to fill the following position:
**Job Title:** Data Field Officer – 1 Position
**Location:** Mtwara Seascapes
**Job Description:**
**General Responsibilities:**
– Develop and ensure availability of study data collection tools.
– Oversee quality data collection, collation, data entry, and analysis using statistical techniques, and provide performance reports as required.
– Provide supportive supervision for data collection and entry, including conducting site visits as necessary to troubleshoot data issues.
– Develop, review, and maintain copies of data collection forms and support documentation for data management.
– Maintain database backup and filing systems for study data.
– Perform procedures for data preparation, including cleaning, standardization, and analysis.
– Participate in study data and progress reviews with the study coordinator and partners.
– Ensure timely stocktaking and supply of data collection tools/forms.
– Conduct internal data quality assessments and develop improvement plans.
– Provide technical assistance related to data entry using tablets.
– Maintain confidentiality of medical information.
– Run outputs, cross-check accuracy, and generate reports for data management purposes.
– Perform other duties as directed by the Seascape Coordinator.
**Qualifications and Experience:**
– Degree, Advanced Diploma, or Certificate in Data Management, Computer Science, Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics, or a related field.
– 2 years’ experience in electronic data entry and cleaning, preferably with marine fisheries activities.
– Proficiency in Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
– Ability to maintain confidentiality.
– Experience in data analysis is an added advantage.
– Demonstrated ability to manage teams and achieve health results.
– Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English and Kiswahili.
– Willingness to work overtime as needed.
